“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” Have you ever heard this saying? Well I get to see proof of it every day. Being a sports Chiropractor I see first hand from those patients of mine that follow through with regular chiropractic maintenance treatments. For the most part they function better in the joints and muscles, the have more energy, they sleep better, and they tend to be in less pain.
There are many things that allow them to have great function of their body. It all starts with putting less negative stressors on the body and adding more positive influences. Negative stressors include poor posture (sleeping , sitting, standing), poor food, improper shoes, mental stress, wear and tear trauma physically at work or at play, etc……. Positive influences help achieve optimal health. Maintenance includes keeping your teeth cleaned by the dentist, getting massage for the muscles, Supplementation for the whole system, exercising regularly, and regular chiropractic treatments for the joints and nervous system just to name a few.
The definition of prevention is to proactively make a positive change before the problems and symptoms begin. Keep things functioning well. It’s way easier to keep things functioning well than to get things functioning well. Some things that help things stay functioning well are 1. Healthy organic foods, 2. Proper supplementation, 3. Ergonomic correct chairs and work stations, 4. Correct shoes, 5. Supportive beds and pillows that keep you in correct posture. The pillow that I created (Dr. Loth’s Spine Align Pillow- www.spinealign.com) helps keep you in correct posture in both the back and side sleeping positions by being fully adjustable and is made with a supportive shredded fill.
So do all you can to prevent ill health from coming upon you in all of these ways and remember “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”.
